Golden Years Photography | Grapevine Valentine Dance

When I decided to shift gears and focus on golden years photography, capturing community was one thing I wanted to include within that umbrella. This Active Adult Valentine Dance in Grapevine was my first time diving in!

In preparation for this event hosted at The Rec of Grapevine by the Active Adult program, I created a custom backdrop. Fun fact, I'm a certified art teacher in the state of Texas but have never actually taught a class. My inner artist had an absolute blast constructing the three arch backdrop in shades of pink and red which I finished off with some gold leaf. I got to snag a shot of each senior entering the dance and had my first go at printing photos live, on-site, for each attendee to take home with them. There was a steep learning curve, for sure, but I am so excited to tweak a few things with the workflow and offer this as an add-on service for Dallas senior living facilities in the future!

After the entry photo station, I went around and captured the rest of festivities including dancing and socializing. These kids from the local high school put on a great Active Adult Valentine Dance for the seniors! And let me just say that you have not truly lived until watching a room full of senior queens dancing to single ladies! Line dancing was the most popular type of dance during the event. In the end, I'm pretty sure I had just about as much fun each of the attendees and so enjoyed a peek into the community Grapevine has created. I look forward to partnering with Dallas senior living facilities in the future to capture more special moments!
